History of Android Operating System
Android changed the way most mobile users used to utilize their phones but very few actually know its history and the details about it. Android came into existence under the umbrella of Google in 2005 who released it as a smartphone operating in 2007. Before 2007, the phone Companies who thought Android would not change much had client like Nokia. Nokia was the market leader in phone industry before 2007 but it did not switch from the windows operating system and fall into the lose that it could not recover again. The companies such as Samsung who had behind the market leader became market leaders themselves because of launching Android in their smartphones and tablet devices. Now Android is the most widely used smartphone operating system worldwide.
But What Actually Android is?
Android is an operating system based on Linux kernel, and the operating system Linux kernel itself is the building block of Android. Android was first tried to develop as a digital cameras operating system by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White. But later they realized that the digital camera is not big enough to meet up their future goals. Now the company decided to target mobile phone industry and launched an operating system which was more intelligent and customized to the needs of users. The company competitors were Microsoft Windows and Symbian at that time.
Rubin had a really hard time in finding financers for the development of Android software but after a great struggle one of his close friend Steve provided him with the initial finance to start the project and when asked, he said, he did so because he believed in Rubin.
The company become a success story and later bought by Google in 2005 when Android was acquired by the Google; all the founders of Android went to the Google for developing it much further. Google proved to be a blessing and a better platform who won the trust of mobile manufacturers by creating collaborative software and the devices with the Android. Google launched Android as a Mobile software which will be highly user friendly and has the constant trait of upgrading. With its promotion the mobile companies started accepting it as a new opportunity and launched this operating system in their devices.
Although nowadays Android is known for its high tech features like Retina detection but the first prototype it launched had a QWERTY keyword and the operating system used to much look like BlackBerry Phone. At that time, Apple IPhones were launched with the touch screen and Android understood that if they want to stay in the game they had to upgrade their OS and the hardware devices that can play the role of competitor by offering touch screen to the Android users. After learning from its mistakes, company launched its first real market product in the form of HTC Dream. The mobile did well in the market and Android was also working with mobiles and chipsets manufacturers.
The real rise of Android platform in 2008 when the company started upgrading the features and gets a bit experience in fixing up errors of previous versions. The versions of Android started from the Cupcake and the list carried on with different name of the dessert and sweets. When asked, a spokesperson of Google, he stated that they want to be a bit inscrutable therefore they named every version after a dessert. But not everything is random, as everyone knows that the name of every versions began with the English alphabetical letter in series such as C for Cupcake, D for Donut and N for Nougat.
Along with introducing the Nexus devices in 2010, Google also proclaimed about the introduction of Android OS in Samsung Galaxy S4, which would not be a Samsung specific Android version but a universal one that Android will use in other devices such Moto and HTC. This was a big turning point for Android, as it had successfully added loyal team of alliances in Android and also succeed in developing its own hardware devices.
Big Smart Phones:
After doing well on other big smartphones, such as Samsung and HTC, Android decided to launch a low cost mobile set for developing countries which would target price sensitive markets. The mobile device was named Android One, it was launched first in India and after a year later Android relaunched Android One in Africa. Later it was also considered that Google will target U.S market in the coming years.
Noticing opportunity in the Mobile Phone Market, Google launched its Pixel series in 2016 which was considered as a successor of a Nexus. Google also declared that the on coming series will be introduced considering as the further successor of current Pixel series.

Android is known for being the most widely used operating system for not only on smartphones but also on the tablets. In the recent history, Android has also started catering the smart TV in which you can see Android OS functionality. The big names using Android OS nowadays include Samsung, LG, HTC, Huawei and Motorola. Almost every giant smartphone and tablet manufacturer is using the Android as default in their devices. This increasing trend of Android platform has created a great relation with the customers.
People are nowadays either using IOS or Android; however people using Android are far larger in the numbers. Android user friendly interface had first made impression on the masses which is the basic reason of its immense popularity and now it is constantly upgrading the features in has previously supported several devices with. The most used feature of social networking nowadays, was first introduced in Gingerbread. It has put a milestone the way users see their phone as a socializing tools.

Virtual reality which was the game changer for media players and video games was first launched in the Nougat version of Android.
Android has an open source OS which means anyone can develop apps for Android platform either for smartphones, tablets or smart TV. Nowadays there is an application for everything we do and it has almost changed the way we use our phones. For instance, in the early days phones were powered by the telecommunication companies for communication but now most of the calls, text messages and even video calls we made are via apps using internet connectivity.
Diminishing telecommunication industry and making way for new application development organization, Android applications played a really significant role and have an enormous effect on almost everything in digital world.
